Artificial intelligence deals with the development of systems that can learn from data, recognise patterns and solve tasks that previously required human intelligence, with ethics, transparency and accountability forming central guidelines.

This lecture is the first module of the new series ‘Digitalization and Digital Humanism’. In eight modules, experts from various scientific disciplines will teach us the basics, potential and risks of digitalization in an understandable and practical manner. The focus is on how our lives will change, in this rapidly advancing age of digitalization and artificial intelligence. The pressing questions are: Which role will humanistic principles play in this? Which skills are needed to actively and responsibly shape this digital transition?

The aim of this lecture series is to teach applicable skills and to show that technological possibilities must be combined with social consensus, the rule of law and cultural diversity. It aims to make the complex field of digitalization and its effects accessible to all interested people in the city iof Vienna, in order to enable a good life for everyone.

This series is a joint collaboration between the Faculty of Computer Science of the TU Wien, in close collaboration with the Vienna Library and the Wiener Volkshochschule. It will be give in Vienna, Austria. Attendance is free of costs. See more info:
