This event was also presented at the SOMUS-ICOM II International Conference on Perspectives of Social Museology for the ICOM Code of Ethics. The SOMUS was born for two reasons: (i) for the ethical imperative of achieving justice and promote recognition of the work and dedication of people and communities which so often put their lives at risks for gender equality, sustainable cities, education for peace, global citizenship, and integrate them with museums and dialogical community processes as full members of the world of Museology.

The UNESCO chair is built on the foundations of global citizenship and supports strongly the pedagogy of Paulo Freire the famous Brazilian philosopher and educator.
