The Second African Digital Humanism Summer School has a regular subscription fee of USD 250,- and a limited number of scholarships and fee waivers.

Applicants for the Summer School have to submit, along with their personal data, a motivation letter, which will be reviewed. To register and apply, please visit our Easychair page:

For the application process we use the conference system Easychair. Before submitting your application please read the following instructions carefully:

First you have to sign-up for an account at Easychair. Then you can submit your application: in the Abstract field provide a short summary why you are interested to attend this Summer School. As Title you fill in “Application for DigHum Africa 2026”. In Keywords field you write in a few words your research interests. If you apply for a scholarship, please upload aditionnal documents (motivation letter, cv, recommendation letter) as pdf.

If your (regular) application is accepted, you will be provided with instructions on how to make the payment for the registration fee. This registration fee covers a six-day program, including lectures, project group work, coffee breaks, lunches for all six days, and a social event.

Scholarships: A limited number of scholarships will be available, based on both merits and financial needs. Two types of scholarships will be offered:

  • Full and partial Scholarships: These scholarships include travel and/or subsistence support, plus a waiver of the registration fee. Priority will be given to students enrolled at universities in countries of the Global South for the scholarships.
  • Registration Fee Waivers: This scholarship is open to all applicants and covers the registration fee, meaning you will not be required to make the payment.
  • Deadline for Applications for full or partial scholarships:
    Wednesday, 1 Juky 2026: Abstract (personal details and motivation) and
    Wednesday, 1 July 2026: Full submission with motivation letter, CV and recommendation letter (one single PDF – max 5 pages in total).
  • Deadline for Regular Applications:
    Sunday, 15 July 2026: Abstract (personal details and motivation)

  • Notification Date:
    Friday, 10 July 2026 for Full or Partial Scholarship
    Monday, 20 July 2026 for Registration Fee Waiver and Regular Application

Visa invitation letters: Visa invitation letters can be requested when registering. We will support your visa application as much as we can. We recommend to apply for visa as soon as possible. See also the Ghanaian website for visa application: https://evisa.immigration.gov.gh/

ECTS Credits: Upon successful completion of the Summer School, participants will be awarded two ECTS credit points if they actively engage in all lectures, practical components, and the group project, or three ECTS credit points if they additionally submit a final paper.
