Digitalization and Digital Humanism: Fundamentals, Potentials, Risks – lecture series

A newly designed lecture series ‘Digitalization and Digital Humanism’ is starting in Vienna, Austria. The focus is on how our lives will change, in this rapidly advancing age of digitalization and artificial intelligence. The pressing questions are: Which role will humanistic principles play in this? Which skills are needed to actively and responsibly shape this digital transition?

The aim of this lecture series is to teach applicable skills and to show that technological possibilities must be combined with social consensus, the rule of law and cultural diversity. It aims to make the complex field of digitalisation and its effects accessible to all interested people in the city iof Vienna, in order to enable a good life for everyone.

The series will comprise 8 expert lectures, between 16 October and 9 December 2025, and will take place at VHS Wiener Urania, Uraniastraße 1, 1010, Vienna Austria. The language of instruction is German.

The target group is the general, german speaking public, in first place citizens and visitors in Vienna. EURIDICE partners and their students are warmly invited to join. The lectures will be captured online.

This is a collaboration between the Faculty of Computer Science of the TU Wien, with the Vienna Library and the Wiener Volkshochschule. In eight modules, experts from various scientific disciplines will teach us the basics, potential and risks of digitalization in an understandable and practical manner.
