Over the past decade the French SME SBC4D, led by Stephane Boyera, has implemented many Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Open Data projects in various countries of the world. With their digitally advanced socio-technical skilled team, SBC4D has contributed to development of digital skills of local staff in e.g. Ghana, Mali, Senegal, and many other countries. With the expertise in developing digital services for low resource environments, such as rural communities in West Africa, SBC4D has succesfully and sustainably implemented many digital services. In this expert lecture, Stephane Boyera will focus on the challenges and barriers of developing voice and web services, and how to overcome them, making them accessible for men and women in rural communities in low resource environments.

This SME expert lecture was given online, on 24 April 2024, to an audience of total 96 master students computer science, information science and AI, at VU. Two lecturers from UDS were also present. Slides are available as dowloadable PDF.
