The Global Citizenship Symposium will take place from 27 – 29 May 2026 at VU Amsterdam, bringing together scholars, educators, students, and societal partners from across the Aurora Alliance network, including various EURIDICE partners. The Symposium provides a collaborative platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and co-creation, focusing on the role of higher education in addressing pressing global challenges. Participants will engage in a dynamic and interdisciplinary programme combining academic research, policy dialogue, and practice-based approaches.

Community Engagement and Civic Participation – Focusing on the relationship between universities and society, this theme highlights civic engagement, participatory approaches, and the role of higher education institutions in fostering democratic values and community impact.
Education for Global Citizenship – This theme examines innovative pedagogies, curricula, and institutional strategies that support the development of global citizenship competencies, including critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and ethical responsibility. These thematic areas are interwoven throughout the programme, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue and cross-sector collaboration.
