Kick-off in Amsterdam: a successful start

The consortium looks back at a fruitful and engaging event, hosted by VU Amsterdam. All EURIDICE’s 25 partner organizations participated in the three-day event. Teams where formed to brainstorm and make plans for the implementation of the various project activities in the upcoming period. The group engaged in three break-out activites. One team consisting of academic staff from the (envisaged) joint master degree-granting universities tackled the curriculum design task and dicussed accreditation. Another team discussed the self-standing educational modules and teacher training events. Ideas were shared how to organize life-long-learning events.

A third group, charged with the outreach and dissemination, made plans for upcoming events and social media actions. For all participants, the Collaboratorium, EURIDICE’s central educational concept, was presented by UNINA and discussed together in a plenary evening session.

The event in numbers – The consortium is proud of the large number of participants who came to this event. In this kick-off, 54 participants from the 25 consortium partner organizations were present, of which 47 in person in Amsterdam, and 7 online, via a video conference portal. A total of 38 people attended the full 3 days and joined the Social Dinner on Thursday evening, 11 January. All partner organizations have sent at least one person, to be the partner representative and content expert. The majority of partners showed up with two or three participants. Overall, the gender balance was not too bad for a digital project, with participation of 19 women and 35 men.

Geographic spread – this is a strong asset of this consortium, which brought together in this event, participants from 14 countries, two of which from the Global South, and the presence of European partners in West, South, Central and East Europe. Notably, three participants from two associate partners (UDS Ghana and Ivan Franko University, who do not receive EU funds for the action), participated actively in the full event.

Aurora Alliance – at the first day, the Secretary-General of the Aurora Alliance, gave a brief welcome address to all participants. Aurora Alliance is a European Universities Network in which eight consortium partners of EURIDICE participate, The EURIDICE project is one of the ambitious spin-offs of this network. The most important achievement of this kick-off is the establishment of a strong and long-lasting partnership for the action, i.e. SDG17.
